Ongoing City Missions Opportunities

Strong Foundation is located on the East side of San Antonio near the Carver Center, Strong Foundation seeks to equip families coming out of homelessness to make a fresh start. This safe, family-friendly transitional home provides housing, mentorship, accountability and discipleship. They need help with cooking, leading arts & crafts classes, teaching stewardship/financial planning courses, mentoring, landscaping/beautification. Contact: Kim Barton

Kidz Time
provides an opportunity for parents at Strong Foundation to attend classes and workshops that will prepare them for independence. Volunteer for a day or be on a rotating schedule. This is great for families and community groups. You can bring your kids to interact and play games with the children, teach a Bible lesson or simply “be there” for the kids. Kidz Time takes place on the first Friday of every month. There are also opportunities on Saturday mornings or your community group can pick a more convenient day and time. Contact: Kim Barton

Life Restored Life Restored of San Antonio is a faith based, God breathed, non-profit organization, birthed out of a need to bring healing and wholeness to not only the direct victims of sexual exploitation, but to the entire family. Working with public and non-profit assistance partners, Life Restored SA works to provide the appropriate services available to the exploited youth, their siblings and their parent(s) in order to provide a complete holistic approach to getting healthy as an individual and as a family. Young Life San Antonio South is made up of volunteer adults who are concerned enough about kids to meet them where they are, in their culture building bridges of authentic friendship. Through weekly gatherings and spending time with kids at football games and in the cafeteria, these friendships break down walls and provide a platform for deep and effective evangelism and discipleship to what is otherwise a largely unreached age group in our culture. THRU Project exists to help youth overcome the challenges of growing up in the foster care system by providing guidance, support, and advocacy in order to prepare them for life after foster care. Each year, 1,500 Texas youth leave the foster care system after they turn 18. Often without any support from family or friends, former foster youth are on their own to navigate independence and adulthood. Mentors of all backgrounds and experiences are needed for young men and women aging out of foster care. A few hours each month will help guide and support foster youth as they transition to independence. For more information contact Kim Barton.
