This summer, Redeemer will welcome new staff members to youth and children’s ministries and say goodbye to another member of the staff.

Youth Ministry Update

RPC Girls’ Discipleship Coordinator Anna Catherine Gibbs has been accepted into the Archeology Ph.D. program with the Department of Anthropology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. Anna Catherine has her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in anthropology and says the opportunity to teach in her field of study while pursuing her doctorate opens the door to a calling she has felt for years. Still, it was not an easy decision to leave San Antonio.

“I’ve always loved teaching, and in the long term, teaching archeology would be my dream,” she says. “Christians are very scarce in the field of anthropology, and I feel called to enter into it. I could not be more thankful for the time I’ve had on staff with the Redeemer Youthies. I love these students and this church so much, so getting to be back in San Antonio has been a blessing and a sweet learning experience. I am really sad to leave. It was a hard, hard decision, but I am hopeful for what is next.”

Anna Catherine will continue on staff with the Youthies through July 31st before moving to Knoxville. And a familiar face will return this summer to serve with Redeemer’s female students.

Sydney blog

Sydney Smith, a Redeemer member since childhood who served as a Youth Summer Intern in 2023, will return as an intern this summer, then step into the role of Girls’ Discipleship Coordinator on August 1st. Sydney will graduate from the University of Texas in May with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Design. She is engaged to be married to Grayson Murray in June. Sydney’s first day on the staff will be May 20th.

“I’m so excited to be back in San Antonio, the best city in the world,” Sydney says. “The most exciting part of the job to me is having the opportunity to teach the Bible to students.”

Koupper Covington will also join the staff as a Youth Summer Intern. Koupper is a native of Lubbock, and is a senior in Religious Studies at the University of Texas. Koupper has previously worked at T Bar M Camps, served as a college ministry intern for Austin Stone Community Church, and has been a Young Life College leader at UT.

“I’m excited about the opportunity Redeemer is providing for me to learn and grow more in maturity as I seek to pursue a life full of ministry,” Koupper says. “I look forward to serving the families of Redeemer.”

Koupper’s first day will be May 6th.

Children’s Ministry Update

Kerrie Tilton will join the RPC staff on June 1st as Children’s Ministry Coordinator, serving with Director of Children’s Ministries Sara Brouillard. Kerrie will assist with Redeemer’s Sunday morning children’s ministry program and other offerings throughout the year.

Kerrie, a longtime teacher, has taught sixth-grade for six years, and has served with children in church as a Sunday School teacher, catechism teacher, and VBS leader over the years. She and her husband, RPC Director of Music Ministry Jacob Tilton, are community group leaders at Redeemer. They have three children, Emma, 23; Eli, 21; and Annalise, 19.

“I’m excited to work alongside Sara to help show the love of God to our covenant children at Redeemer,” Kerrie says.

Please join us in praying for Anna Catherine and encouraging her as she prepares to begin her Ph.D. studies, and in welcoming Sydney, Koupper and Kerrie to the Redeemer staff.
