SF II - Grace-Based Spiritual Formation
Grace-Based Spiritual Formation is a Sunday morning CE class that is designed to be an in-depth look at the manner in which grace transforms and informs our spiritual lives. We will introduce the ideas of spiritual disciplines and look at the vital connection between our emotional and spiritual lives. This class will be extremely useful for both the new believer and the life-long Christian.
The semester will be broken up into four major sections:
- The centrality of the Gospel for identity and growth in grace.
- How grace transforms our interior life and shapes relationships.
- How grace shapes relationships within the entire congregation.
- The practices or spiritual disciplines that form us into the image of Christ.
Each week, we’ll use selections from the following books and each full book will be available for purchase on the book table:
- Jerry Bridges, The Discipline of Grace
- Peter Scazzero, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality
- Tim Keller, The Prodigal God
- Ronald Richardson, Creating a Healthier Church
“The way of Jesus cannot be imposed or mapped — it requires an active participation in following Jesus as he leads us through sometimes strange and unfamiliar territory, in circumstances that become clear only in the hesitations and questionings, in the pauses and reflections where we engage in prayerful conversation with one another and with him.” ― Eugene H. Peterson
