Training in the Pews
Worship is God-centered praise and adoration. As you look around the sanctuary at RPC, you see that children are a part of our worshipping community. Their presence grows out of the biblical tradition and conviction that children are members of the community of God’s People. Inclusion in the Church’s worship service - worshipping with their families Sunday after Sunday - is one way that children learn what it means to walk as followers of Jesus.
It is our hope that children will learn to listen well to God's word as they mature through the ages of 4-6. To help them learn to listen, children falling into this age bracket are invited to our Training in the Pews program, which is offered during our 9:15 a.m. worship service. Around the age of 4 children should begin to transition out of the nursery and attend the worship service. Just before the sermon, children ages 4-6 are dismissed to our Training in the Pews program, where they are led by children’s ministry volunteers in singing worship songs and are taught a Bible lesson thorugh a curriculum called Teach Me To Worship. The curriculum presents and explains common elements of worship that the universal church has used throughout the ages. At the conclusion of the sermon, children rejoin their families in the sanctuary for communion and the conclusion of the worship service.
Training in the Pews is offered every Sunday during the 9:15 a.m. worship service. TIP is also offered during the 11 a.m. worship service on Sundays when Christian Education classes are not in session and during school breaks.
