Lent: Remembering what Christ has done for us

February 28, 2017
Rev. Dr. Tom Gibbs
Beginning with Ash Wednesday this week, Redeemer joins with the church around the world in entering into the season of Lent, a 40-day period of preparation for our remembrance of Christ’s crucifixion and celebration of his resurrection. As we embark upon this intentional contemplation of Christ’s work, it is important for us to remember that Lent’s significance is not found in what we do or are going to do to be like Jesus. Rather, the significance is found in remembering what Jesus has done for us in our place. Lent, a term connected to ...

Are my internal rants and pious sounding reflections (they always sound pious to me, right?) really that relevant to the cultural conversation? Are these acts of faithfulness or vanity? It can be hard to sort out. Obviously, even by writing this blog and linking my FB page to it I am giving some credence to ...

Children's Choir Spring 2017

February 06, 2017
Joel Cook
Hi Parents! Just a reminder that we have just 2 more weeks for enrollment in choir! Please consider this great opporunity for your students (2nd-5th grade). We are treating each semester of choir separately. What that means is that if you participated in the fall, you will not automatically be enrolled for the spring. Additionally, if you are interested, you can absolutely sign up for this semester as well. Dates for choir performances include singing on Palm Sunday (April 9), and Maundy Thursday (April 13). Rehearsals are at church ...

2016 Ministry Report

February 04, 2017
Rev. Dr. Tom Gibbs
View the full ministry report here. Dear Redeemer Members and Friends, Today we celebrate 14 years of worshipping together as a congregation! What began in 2002 as a small, home-based Bible study has grown today into a thriving, Gospel-centered and city-focused congregation of almost 800 diverse members, all sharing a commitment to minister to San Antonio and the entire region of South Texas. This is truly extraordinary and should move our hearts to praise God. Even more exciting is to consider how Redeemer’s vision of being an anchor ...
