New Sermon Series: Songs of Christmas

November 20, 2024
Rev. Paul Hahn
Our King and Savior now draws near: Come let us adore him. I love these words from the Book of Common Prayer, for use in public worship this time of year, welcoming us into the hope of the Advent of Our Lord. Just writing these words down here for you makes me want to start singing: “O come let us adore him, Christ the Lord!” Truth be told, I did break out into the first verse of “O Come, All Ye Faithful” at my desk while writing this paragraph. Then I listened to Carrie Underwood sing it just a wee bit better than I did! In doing all that, ...

November 13, 2024
The RPC Session
Dear Members and Friends, As we look back on our 2024 ministry year, there is much to be thankful for. We held our bi-annual Culture Conference in April, with our guest Dr. Brian Fikkert better equipping us to love our neighbors well in the face of material and spiritual poverty. We continued focusing on shepherding the congregation well, led by Rev. Dr. Bryant McGee, whom we installed as Associate Pastor of Congregational Care in June. Our Spanish-speaking ministry is growing beautifully under the leadership of newly installed Assistant ...

New Sermon Series! Mark: The Gospel of King Jesus

August 14, 2024
Rev. Matt Beham
This Sunday, August 18th, Redeemer will begin our fall sermon series “Mark: The Gospel of King Jesus.” The word “gospel,” meaning “good news,” has its roots both in the Old Testament and the Roman Empire. In the Old Testament, the phrase “good news” is closely associated with the prophet Isaiah who prophesied the “good news” of God’s return to Israel to restore the Kingdom. In the Roman world, Caesar Augustus proclaimed “The beginning of the gospel concerning himself” whenever his reign and rule extended to new peoples and regions....

New Sermon Series! Proverbs: The Wisdom of God

May 20, 2024
Rev. Matt Beham
This Sunday, May 26th, Redeemer will start a new sermon series in the book of Proverbs called The Wisdom of God. Each time I read the Proverbs I am struck by a particular passage from Proverbs 8: “The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth…when he marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside him, like a master workman, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, rejoicing in his inhabited world and ...

Haley Wachdorf
Redeemer is pleased to announce that Pablo Chavarria, who has been on the Redeemer staff since 2020 as Latin American Pastor Fellow, has been named RPC Director of Spanish-Speaking Ministries. Pablo, his wife, Velia, and their daughter, Grace, originally came to Redeemer from Monterrey, Mexico in 2020 for what was envisioned as a two-year pastoral fellowship. But as their connection to San Antonio and Redeemer grew, Pablo says he and Velia began to feel drawn to a long-term ministry here.  “The love of the community at Redeemer for us ...
