Ever Dream of Going to Seminary?
As many of you know, Redeemer Presbyterian has begun a partnership with Redeemer Theological Seminary to begin offering theological education right here in San Antonio. One of the ways the seminary hopes to serve the church in our city is by offering deeper theological training not only to would-be pastors or missionaries, but to church members as well. So, if you’ve ever dreamed of going to seminary, now may be your chance…
On October 2nd, Redeemer will offer its first course in San Antonio, and there is still time to register! The course is titled Introduction to Theological Study and will be taught by missiologist Dr. Michael Goheen. Here is a description of the course from the course catalog:
This course is designed to introduce students to the breadth and unity of God's redeeming purposes throughout the unfolding narrative of the Old and New Testaments climaxing in the work of Christ and its ramifications for our personal lives and relationships, and for the wider cosmos; to introduce the various theological disciplines (including the significance of contextual and language studies) and their interrelationship, and to communicate how each of these disciplines contributes to a deeper understanding of God's mission.
In other words, this class will help you understand the purpose and place of theological study in the midst of everything God is doing to redeem his creation. It will no doubt be a rich time of reflection, discussion, and even devotion.
Classes will be held at Redeemer Presbyterian church from 8:00 AM – 12:15 PM on three Thursday mornings in October: the 2nd, 16th, and 30th. The cost to audit the course is $30. If you are interested in signing up for the course, please contact Bryce Waller (bwaller@redeemer.edu; 210-331-6390).
Whether you are thinking of pursuing the full degree program or just simply wanting to “test the waters” of seminary life, please consider being a part of this great opportunity.
