Letter From RPC Assistant Pastor Brad Tubbesing
To the Congregation of Redeemer Presbyterian Church,
It is with a mix of both sadness and joy that I’m writing to you today. I accepted a call last week to be the Pastor of Discipleship at Greentree Community Church in St. Louis, MO. While my family and I are excited for this next chapter in our lives, we will miss Redeemer dearly.
It has been a true joy and honor to serve the people of Redeemer. You all have been very kind, gracious, and welcoming to me and my family. Caroline and I, as well as our children: Eliza, Adie, Jane, and JR, have been richly blessed by you. And San Antonio will always have a special place in our hearts as we wear our Spurs jerseys with pride! As I’ve ministered at Redeemer, it has been a privilege to walk alongside you as we’ve tasted again and again the wonder of our Savior’s vast and boundless mercy showered upon His beloved children such as you and I. Thank you for letting the Lord use you to be an instrument of His grace in my life.
It has always been a hope of Caroline and mine that we would one day move back to St. Louis – the city where we were born and raised. And when this opportunity came up, we sensed the Lord’s leading through every step. Our transition will be pretty quick. Greentree would like for me to start soon and we’d like for our children to plug into their new schools before the end of the school year. My last Sunday at Redeemer will be March 20. So while our goodbyes may not last long, I know they will be good.
I want to leave you with a charge and encouragement. Hebrews 12:1-3 reads,
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”
Run the race that is set before you, Redeemer! And look to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. I will continue praying for you and cheering you on until we all finish that race.
With love in Christ,
Rev. Brad Tubbesing
Assistant Pastor of Congregational Life
